Service Description: Compilation of historical and recent digital elevation models (bare-earth terrain models) derived through Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data of the Northwest Territories. The compilation represents georeferenced coverage of very high resolution data (1 m spatial resolution) of NWT communities, infrastructure corridors, and other areas of interest. Digital terrain models (DTM) represent the elevations of terrain and surface topography devoid of natural or human objects such as vegetation and buildings. Elevations are referenced to either the CGVD28 HT2.0 (Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1928, Height Transformation 2.0) or the current CGVD2013 (Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 2013) vertical datum, however, for a limited number of datasets the vertical datum is unknown. Models were derived from LiDAR pointclouds at 1-m spatial resolution. LiDAR vendors may have performed positional adjustments based on ground control points where necessary based on project requirements. Positional and elevation accuracies are project-specific, with limited independent validation.
